WeCook – Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

WeCook ("we", "us", "our") is a meal planning app for couples and individuals. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using WeCook, you agree to this policy.

Age restriction: WeCook is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

• To provide personalized daily recipe recommendations
• To enable the couple mode (proposals, votes, agreements)
• To track your macros and nutritional history
• To send push notifications (daily meal reminders, partner proposals, recipe matches). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or in the app's Profile section
• To manage your premium subscription status
• To improve the app using aggregated, anonymized analytics

4. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Features

WeCook uses Google Gemini AI to power the following features:

• Automatic macro calculation from recipe ingredients
• AI Chef Assistant (conversational recipe suggestions)
• Weekly meal plan generation
• Photo-based food recognition and macro analysis

5. Push Notifications

WeCook uses push notifications for:

• Daily meal reminders (configurable time)
• Partner recipe proposals
• Recipe match alerts (when both partners agree)

You can enable or disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings or in the WeCook Profile section.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Firebase / Google Firestore – Database, authentication, and analytics. Servers located in the United States.
• Firebase Analytics – App usage analytics (session data, screen views, events). Data is anonymized and aggregated.
• Google Gemini AI – AI-powered features. Your ingredient lists and meal queries are sent to Gemini for processing.
• Spoonacular API – Recipe database. Searches and queries are sent to Spoonacular servers.
• RevenueCat – Subscription management. Processes your subscription status (not payment details — those are handled by Apple/Google).
• Resend – Transactional email delivery (welcome, renewal, billing notifications).
• Expo / EAS – App delivery and over-the-air updates.

8. International Data Transfers

Firebase and Google services store data on servers located primarily in the United States. If you are located outside the US (including the European Union), your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using WeCook, you consent to this transfer. We rely on Google's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for GDPR compliance.

9. Couple / Partner Data Sharing

When you link with a partner in WeCook:

• Your recipe proposals and votes are visible to your partner
• Your agreed recipes and daily plans are shared
• Your name and profile photo are visible to your partner
• Your macro data and statistics are not shared with your partner

You can unlink from your partner at any time in the Couple section of the app.

10. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data (processed within 30 days)
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format
• Opt-out: Opt out of analytics tracking
• California residents (CCPA): We do not sell your personal information to third parties

11. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This will permanently delete:

• Your profile and authentication credentials
• All meal history, recipes, and macro data
• Your couple connection and shared data

Data deletion is processed within 30 days. Subscription cancellation must be done separately through the App Store or Google Play.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
